Personal symbolism
An adder brings danger close, while its movement changes the meaning of the encounter. If it strikes someone you care about, consider whether you are carrying worry about a friend’s difficulties alongside concern for your own security. The strange image of a seemingly dead friend rising briefly can intensify feelings of helplessness or alarm. For a young woman, the snake’s approach suggests deceit and trouble; its retreat shifts the focus to defending her reputation. Notice whether the dream’s strongest feeling was fear, grief, or resolve.
Questions to reflect on

- Did the adder approach or retreat, and how did that change your response?
- What attack on your character or reputation are you trying to withstand?
