Personal symbolism
A currycomb is a practical tool used through repeated effort, so it can bring the slow, hands-on side of ambition into focus. The image connects comfort and wealth with labor that must be endured first. When you are currying a horse, the task extends to effort from both mind and hand: progress depends on persistence, not a single stroke. Success in grooming the horse carries the promise of reaching the height you seek, whatever that goal may be. Consider whether the work felt frustrating, manageable, or satisfying. The horse and the act of caring for it may also call up personal associations with responsibility, strength, or patience.
